Vol. 17 No. S-1 (2024): Special Issue
The First Annual International Conference of the Iraqi Center for Cancer and Medical Genetic Research, held in collaboration with Al-Farahidi University and the Asian Pacific Organization for Cancer Prevention (APOCP), aimed to foster innovation and discovery in cancer and medical genetics research. The conference provided a platform for researchers from Iraq, Italy, Iran, and China to share their latest findings and promote collaboration. Key topics and research areas covered by the abstracts included clinical and epidemiology research, where studies explored cancer prevalence, risk factors, biomarkers, and dietary patterns. Genetics research investigations examined gene expression, chromosomal abnormalities, and the role of genetic factors in cancer development. Cancer molecular therapy research investigated novel therapeutic approaches, including enzyme inhibition, receptor antagonism, and immunotherapy. Nanotechnology in cancer research focused on the application of nanotechnology for drug delivery, imaging, and targeted therapy. In vitro cancer research explored the anticancer properties of various compounds and plant extracts.
The conference included four keynote lectures on the National Program of Screening and Early Detection of Breast Cancer in Iraq, Cancer Epidemiology in Asia, Application of Current and Advanced Diagnostic and Gene Therapy Strategies in Cancers and Medical Genetics, and Fluorescence Image Guided Cancer Surgery: From Lab to Hospital. Additionally, the conference featured a workshop on sound scientific publishing practices, providing guidance to researchers on navigating the landscape of prestigious international journals. The conference successfully achieved its goals, fostering collaboration, networking, and the exchange of cutting-edge research and advancements in cancer and medical genetics.
